Pricing
What should you charge for a short video?
Price the outcome, not the minutes. The client is buying a finished asset they could not have produced this week, at a price far below a film crew.
Most UK agencies land between £150 and £750 for a single, short, presenter-led video, and between £500 and £2,500 a month for a package of them. Your production cost is your plan, so almost all of that is margin. The pricing question is about positioning, not cost recovery.
Bands that hold up in conversation
| What you are selling | Typical price | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| One short video, 60–90 seconds | £150 – £400 | A sales video, a listing, a founder introduction |
| One considered video with script work | £400 – £750 | Brand-facing work, careful wording, several approvals |
| A batch of five | £900 – £2,000 | Service pages, a product range, a campaign |
| Monthly package, 4 videos | £600 – £1,600 a month | Ongoing social, sales enablement, recruitment |
| A revision | £45 – £150 | A script change and a re-render after approval |
Three pricing mistakes agencies make here
Charging by the minute
The client has no idea what a minute of video is worth, and a per-minute price invites them to ask for a shorter video rather than a better one. Price the deliverable.
Passing your cost saving straight to the client
The value of the video did not fall because your production got faster. Speed is your advantage; it belongs in your margin and in your turnaround promise, not in a discount.
Giving away revisions
Set a fixed revision price up front and state it when you send the work. Clients respect a published number and stop asking for cosmetic changes.
How to justify the number
- Compare against the alternative they know: a filmed shoot, a day rate, a studio, and three weeks.
- Quote a turnaround the alternative cannot match: same day, or next morning.
- Bundle the things that cost you nothing but read as value: a second language version, a square cut for social, a captioned version.
- For cold sales, put the price on the page next to the finished video. A decision in front of the work converts better than a quote in an email.
Worked example (illustration). A four-video monthly package at £900, produced inside a £149 plan: roughly £750 a month of gross margin per client, before your time.
Two ways to start
Make a real video on the free allowance first: three minutes of finished video, no card. Then read how the cold-lead sale works end to end.
