Product demo video
Nobody buys a feature list. They buy the moment the problem goes away.
A product demo video shows one job your product does, start to finish, with a presenter explaining why it matters. Keep it to 90 seconds, show the outcome early, and leave the feature tour out.
The detail, in plain English
Demos fail by going in interface order — menus, then settings, then the thing the buyer cares about. Go in buyer order instead: problem, the moment it is solved, how it was done.
One demo, one job. If your product does five things, that is five short demos, not one long one.
The presenter does the persuading and the screen does the proving. Splitting those two roles keeps both clear.
What to do, step by step
- 1Name the jobOne sentence: the task the viewer is trying to finish today.
- 2Show the finished result firstTen seconds of the outcome buys you the next eighty.
- 3Then show how it happenedThe shortest honest path, with nothing skipped that the viewer would hit.
The short version in a table
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 0-10s | The job, named in the viewer's words |
| 10-20s | The finished result, on screen |
| 20-70s | How it was done, in the real interface |
| 70-85s | What it means — time or cost saved |
| 85-90s | One clear next step |
A worked example
Worked example (illustration). A logistics platform cuts its nine-minute demo to 90 seconds covering only 'book a collection', and uses the shorter version as the reply to every inbound enquiry.
What to watch out for
- Never demo a feature that is not live yet.
- Skip the login screen — nobody has ever been persuaded by a login screen.
- Match the interface in the recording to what a new customer actually sees.

Questions people ask
Do I need any video experience?
No. The hard part is deciding what to leave out, which is a product decision. The presenter and the script take care of the rest.
How much does it cost?
A 90-second demo uses about a minute and a half of allowance. Start free with no card, then Starter £49 a month for a regular demo library.
Can I edit it afterwards?
Yes. When the interface changes, re-record the screen and adjust the affected sentences rather than remaking the whole demo.
