Sales pitch video

A pitch video competes with a two-line email. It has to be worth the extra 45 seconds.

A sales pitch video runs 45 to 60 seconds, opens with the buyer's situation rather than your company, makes one proposal, and ends with a single specific ask such as a 15-minute call on a named day.

The detail, in plain English

The opening ten seconds decide everything. Naming the buyer's situation proves you did the work; naming your company proves nothing.

One proposal. A pitch offering three options is a document, not a video, and it will be watched by nobody.

The ask must be small and specific. 'Let me know your thoughts' is not an ask.

What to do, step by step

  1. 1Open with their situationSomething true and specific about the buyer, in the first sentence.
  2. 2Make one proposalWhat you would do, and what changes if it works.
  3. 3Ask for one small thingA named day, a 15-minute slot, a single reply.

The short version in a table

Pitch openings that work and openings that do not
OpeningReads as
'You've just opened a second branch in Leeds…'Researched
'We're a full-service agency founded in 2014…'Generic
'Your booking page asks for nine fields…'Specific and useful
'I wanted to reach out and touch base…'Deleted

A worked example

Worked example (illustration). A design studio sends a 50-second pitch referencing the prospect's new product page and asks for 15 minutes on Thursday, replacing a three-page proposal document that had gone unanswered twice.

What to watch out for

  • Never send the same pitch to two prospects with only the name changed — it is obvious.
  • Keep it under a minute; pitch videos are watched at a desk between meetings.
  • Say the ask out loud rather than leaving it to a link.

How AutoPersonify does it

AutoPersonify gives you 143 real presenters, scripts in 42 languages and a free tier with no card, so you can make a finished video before you decide on a plan. Paid plans are Starter £49, Growth £149 and Scale £499 a month, all measured in finished video minutes.

Questions people ask

Do I need any video experience?

No. A pitch is a writing exercise. Choosing one of the 143 presenters and pasting the script takes a couple of minutes.

How much does it cost?

At under a minute each, pitch videos are cheap in minutes. Starter at £49 a month covers steady outbound, and Growth at £149 covers a full sales team.

Can I edit it afterwards?

Yes, and you should. Each pitch is written for one buyer, so you edit the opening and reproduce rather than reusing the same file.
