Release notes
Release notes video
The release, explained rather than listed.
Paste the release notes, or upload them as a file. The script step turns them into a spoken walkthrough you edit. Choose a presenter and send the video to the customers affected by the release.
The detail, in plain English
Release notes and a changelog are not the same job. Notes explain a whole release to the people who use it, so the video has room to say why something was built and who benefits, not just what shipped.
Sort by audience, not by component. Admins, everyday users and integrators care about different lines, so group the script that way and people can hear their part.
What to do, step by step
- 1Bring the notes inPaste the notes or upload the file. Headings and version numbers come through and get tidied at the script step.
- 2Group by who is affectedSplit the script into what changes for administrators and what changes for everyone else.
- 3Produce and distributeChoose a presenter, produce 90 seconds to two minutes, and send it with the written notes attached.
What this format looks like as a video
| Audience | What they hear |
|---|---|
| Everyone | The one headline change |
| Administrators | Settings that moved or changed |
| Everyday users | What looks different tomorrow |
| Integrators | Referred to the written notes |
| Everyone again | When it takes effect |
A worked example
Worked example (illustration). Release notes for a scheduling update become a 100-second video: the headline change to shift templates, the two admin settings that moved, what staff will see on Monday morning, and the date the change goes live.
What to watch out for
- Say the effective date; a release video without one creates support tickets.
- Do not read API detail aloud — point integrators at the written notes.
- Avoid version numbers in the opening sentence; lead with the change itself.
How AutoPersonify does it
PDF, Word, plain text and Markdown files are read in your browser, and a public web address can be read for you. Everything else is pasted in as text. You then get 143 real presenters, scripts in 42 languages, and a free tier with no card. Paid plans are Starter £49, Growth £149 and Scale £499 a month, measured in finished video minutes.
Questions people ask
How long does it take?
Fifteen to twenty minutes per release, and less once you reuse the same audience grouping every time.
Can I change the wording?
Yes. Release notes are written precisely for a document, and the spoken version usually needs looser, friendlier phrasing to land.
What does it cost?
Free to make your first one. Product teams publishing a video every release usually settle on Growth £149 a month.
