Script
Script to video
The shortest route there is: your words, spoken.
Paste your finished script, or upload it as a text or Markdown file. Nothing is rewritten unless you ask. Choose one of 143 presenters and the script is spoken back to you as a finished video.
The detail, in plain English
This is the fastest path in the product because the hard part is already done. The script step becomes a proofread rather than a rewrite: check the pace, the pronunciation of names, and where the sentences breathe.
Written-to-be-read scripts still need a pass. Long subordinate clauses and semicolons work on a page and stumble when spoken, so break them into shorter sentences before producing.
What to do, step by step
- 1Paste or upload the scriptPlain text and Markdown files are read directly, and pasted text keeps your wording and order exactly.
- 2Read it aloud onceAnywhere you run out of breath, add a full stop. Spell tricky names the way they should sound.
- 3Choose a presenter and producePlay previews, pick the voice, and produce. Around 150 spoken words is a minute of video.
What this format looks like as a video
| Words in the script | Roughly |
|---|---|
| 75 words | 30 seconds |
| 150 words | 1 minute |
| 300 words | 2 minutes |
| 450 words | 3 minutes |
| 900 words | 6 minutes — usually too long |
A worked example
Worked example (illustration). A 230-word launch script is pasted in unchanged, two semicolons are split into separate sentences, a product name is respelled phonetically, and a 95-second video comes back on the first attempt.
What to watch out for
- Stage directions and speaker labels get spoken if you leave them in — delete them.
- Acronyms are read as written; write them how they should sound.
- A script that reads beautifully can still be too long. Check the word count first.
