Survey results

Survey results video

People answered. This is how you tell them it mattered.

Paste the headline results, or upload the results report. The script step writes them as spoken findings you edit. Choose a presenter and you get a video that closes the loop with respondents.

The detail, in plain English

The point of a results video is not the percentages, it is the response. People who filled in your survey want to know what changed, so at least half the script should be about what you are doing next.

Be honest about the base. If 62 people answered, say 62 people answered. A percentage without a denominator sounds like spin the moment somebody asks.

What to do, step by step

  1. 1Bring in the headline findingsPaste the three or four results you would put on a slide, plus the response count.
  2. 2Pair each finding with an actionFor every result you speak, say what happens as a consequence. Findings without actions do not need a video.
  3. 3Produce and send it backPick a presenter, produce it, and send it to the same list you surveyed.

What this format looks like as a video

A results script, in order
SectionWhat it says
Thanks and baseHow many answered, and thank you
Finding oneThe result, then the action
Finding twoThe result, then the action
The uncomfortable oneSaid plainly, not buried
What happens nextDates where you have them

A worked example

Worked example (illustration). A staff survey with 62 responses becomes a 2-minute video: the response count, three findings including the poor score on handover communication, the change being made to shift handovers, and when the next survey runs.

What to watch out for

  • Only quote figures your own results contain — never round a finding in your favour.
  • Do not skip the worst result; leaving it out is the fastest way to kill response rates next time.
  • Avoid quoting free-text comments that could identify the person who wrote them.

How AutoPersonify does it

PDF, Word, plain text and Markdown files are read in your browser, and a public web address can be read for you. Everything else is pasted in as text. You then get 143 real presenters, scripts in 42 languages, and a free tier with no card. Paid plans are Starter £49, Growth £149 and Scale £499 a month, measured in finished video minutes.

Questions people ask

How long does it take?

Around twenty minutes. Writing the actions takes longest, because deciding what you will actually change is a real decision rather than a wording choice.

Can I change the wording?

Yes, every line, though the figures themselves should stay exactly as your results report them.

What does it cost?

Free to make one. An organisation running a couple of surveys a year needs nothing beyond the free tier or Starter at £49 a month.
