Reporting

Reporting video results to clients

Clients cancel video when they cannot see what it did. Four numbers, reported monthly, prevent that conversation.

Report four things each month: videos delivered, how many were opened, how far they were watched, and what happened next. Opens and plays are recorded per link, so the first three come from the platform rather than a guess.

How it works, step by step

  1. 1Report delivery firstWhat was produced, when, and where it was published. It makes the retainer tangible.
  2. 2Add opens and playsEach shared link records when it was first opened and first played.
  3. 3Show watch depth honestlyA 40% average watch on a 90-second video is a useful fact, not a failure to hide.
  4. 4Close with the next month's planThree named videos, with what each is meant to achieve.

A worked example in pounds

Worked example (illustration). A £1,200 retainer delivers eight videos in a month. The report shows eight delivered, all eight links opened, an average watch depth the client can act on, and three named videos for next month.

What to watch out for

  • Never present platform figures as sales figures. The outcome column belongs to the client's data.
  • Report the same four metrics every month, even in a bad month.
  • Avoid vanity totals across all clients. A client cares only about their own numbers.

Questions agencies ask

How long does this take?

Around twenty minutes a client once the format is fixed, because delivery, opens and plays are already recorded against each shared video.

What does it cost?

Nothing extra. Tracking is included on every plan, from the free allowance upwards, and does not use finished minutes.

Does the client need an account?

No. The tracking comes from the links you already send them, so the client simply receives the report.
