Upselling
Video upsell scripts for agencies
The easiest video sale is to a client who already pays you monthly. It only needs the right sentence at the right moment.
Offer video at a moment the client already cares about: a campaign launch, a reporting call, or a new service page. Make one video first, show it, then attach a price. Do not present video as a separate proposal.
How it works, step by step
- 1Choose the momentReporting calls and campaign launches convert. Random emails in the middle of a quiet month do not.
- 2Lead with the artefactProduce one video for them before you mention money. The demonstration replaces the pitch.
- 3Use a one-sentence offer"We made this from your existing landing page — we can produce four a month for £600 if it is useful."
- 4Attach the price to the linkPut the price on the review link so approving and paying are the same action.
The numbers in front of you
| Moment | Opening line | Offer to attach |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly report | "Your top page gets the traffic but no one scrolls — here it is as a video." | £250 for that one video |
| Campaign launch | "We made the ad creative as a presenter video so you can test it this week." | £600 for four versions |
| New service page | "Here is the new service explained by a presenter, ready for the page." | £300, then £150 per further service |
A worked example in pounds
Worked example (illustration). An agency with six retained clients sends one unrequested video to each. Two accept a £600 monthly add-on. Monthly recurring revenue rises by £1,200 and the agency's own cost stays at the Growth plan's £149.
What to watch out for
- Never upsell in the same breath as bad results. The offer reads as a distraction.
- Do not send the offer without the video attached — the sentence alone converts far worse.
- Keep the add-on inside the existing contract so procurement is not involved.
Questions agencies ask
How long does this take?
Producing the demonstration video takes minutes. Most agencies send all their upsell videos in one sitting the day before their reporting calls.
What does it cost?
Six demonstration videos of 90 seconds use nine finished minutes, well inside Starter at £49 a month. There is no per-video charge.
Does the client need an account?
No. They watch the demonstration on a link. If they accept, the work continues inside your workspace with no account for them.
