Video for energy suppliers

Tariff explainers, bill walkthroughs and meter guidance, in language customers follow.

Energy suppliers make four: a tariff change explainer, a bill walkthrough, a meter reading or smart meter guide and a support and outage update. Each is produced in minutes, which matters when prices change at short notice.

Why video earns its place here

Bills cause most of the contact volume. A walkthrough that names each line of the bill in order, including standing charge and unit rate, deflects calls that take eight minutes each to answer.

Tariff changes arrive with statutory notice and a letter nobody reads. A short video linked from that letter reduces both complaints and the number of customers who assume the worst.

The four videos this sector makes most

Typical lengths and what each one is for
VideoLengthPurpose
Tariff change explainer60–90 secondsWhat is changing, from when and what the customer can do
Bill walkthrough90 secondsEach line of the bill, named in the order it appears
Meter guidance60 secondsHow to read a meter or use an in-home display correctly
Support and outage update45 secondsWhat is happening, who to contact and the priority services register

A worked script outline

  1. 1State the change and the date"Your unit rate and standing charge change on the first of the month."
  2. 2Explain the two figures separately"The standing charge is a daily fixed amount; the unit rate is what each kilowatt hour costs."
  3. 3Avoid implying a total"Your actual bill depends on how much you use, so we cannot state a new monthly figure here."
  4. 4Give the support routes"If you are worried about paying, contact us before the date — support options are listed below."

Compliance and tone notes

  • Price and tariff communications are regulated. Any figure stated must be accurate, current and consistent with the written notice sent to that customer.
  • Never imply a customer will save money by staying or switching without the comparison basis being stated in full.
  • Vulnerability matters: always signpost the priority services register and affordability support in customer-facing videos.
  • Complaints handling information must be included where a video explains a change a customer might dispute.

Questions people ask

Is there a free tier?

Yes, no card. A bill walkthrough is the usual first build, because contact centre deflection can be measured within a billing cycle.

Can I use my own likeness?

Yes, although most suppliers use presenters for regulated content so the tone stays consistent as scripts are updated by compliance.

Do you support other languages?

Yes, 42 languages. Meter guidance and affordability support videos in community languages are the most common use here.
